Those of you who saw my gingerbread men post yesterday might have noticed the cute little ninjabread men that I made. I’ve gotten a few emails asking where I could them, so I thought I’d share.

A few weeks ago I was talking with Charissa Fleischer of Zest Bakery in San Carlos when she mentioned that she’d picked up some ninjabread man cookie cutters. “Wha….?” was my reply. Being a semi-ninja aficionado, this was something I had to see. I begged her to tell me where she got them. She had received hers from Amazon, but sadly they were all sold out of the official Fred & Friends Ninjabread Men Cookie Cutters. Not one to be veered off course, I left no stone unturned in my neighborhood until I tracked down a set.

Where to find Ninjabread Men?!

After two days of searching, I finally found them at a local East Bay gift shop called Nathan & Co. This little shop carries a huge array of culinary gifts, so I called to see if they had a set of my beloved ninjabread men. They did indeed have them — with only two left in stock! I ran down immediately to buy a set, and the second set sold just as I was walking out the door. Whew, that was close.

I got home and set to baking. It was a busy day full of gingerbread and Linzer cookies, but I managed to get them all done. Decorating the ninjabread men was difficult at first — how exactly does one decorate a gingerbread ninja? Glitter and ruffly cuffs won’t work for these bad boys. I mean, just look at the way they’re decorated on the package (above). These are some hardcore cookies.

So I set about decorating as best I could I think they turned out pretty well. Aren’t they cute?

Adorable. I have the Fred gingerbread cookie cutters with bites already taken from the little men – one is missing an arm, another a head, etc. Now I just need to make some dough for the holidays.

With men like these how popular would i be. Our family is mostly little boys and men. Women are outnumbered.
