I’m happy to announce the new release of Will Write for Food: The Complete Guide to Writing Cookbooks, Blogs, Reviews, Memoir, and More, in its 2nd edition, by Dianne Jacob. At the end of this post, I’m giving away one copy for free!
For those of you already familiar with the previous edition – I know many of you already own it and will wonder why you should upgrade – you’ll appreciate this much expanded volume, which includes a HUGE chapter on blogging and social networking as they pertain to food writing. She’s also beefed up the other sections, interviewed countless new sources, and added updated information on the ever-changing world of food writing as it exists in this new-fangled Internet age. The new book is not only bigger, but far more relevant to today’s new media.
Says Dianne of the recent additions to Will Write for Food:
I interviewed the most successful food bloggers, writing a 17,000-word chapter on food blogging (about 70 pages double spaced) that will answer your questions, inspire you, and provide resources and insider information … In addition to the new chapter on blogging, the new edition of Will Write for Food incorporates tips on using social media as a freelancer and a blogger; updated info on book publishing, whether traditional or self-publishing; and updated info on the newer, more competitive freelancing market.
If you like the book, I recommend you also check out Dianne’s blog on food writing. She’s not only an excellent writer, but a wonderfully thorough teacher and consultant. I also interviewed her on Wasabimon not long ago about her cooking and blogging life.
To celebrate the new release of her book (and the fact that I’m quoted a few times – check the index and acknowledgements. *blush*), I’m giving away a free copy to one lucky reader. If you’re lucky, I’ll even ask her to sign it before I send it your way.
Here are the rules to enter the giveaway:
1 – For one entry in the contest, you can join the Wasabimon mailing list by clicking this link, entering your email address, and then clicking the confirmation link that you’ll receive via email. Sorry, only confirmed subscribers will be entered to win.
2 – For another entry (or if you’re already on the list) you can post the following to Twitter, exactly as it appears here so that I can keep track of who’s posting where:
Then leave me a comment on this post to let me know that you’ve joined the mailing list and/or posted the tweet. Also, let me know how you’re interested in food writing… just because I want to know more about you.
Be sure to enter by Tuesday, August 3rd, at noon PST. I’ll draw a winner at random that day.
Edit to add: Congratulations to Tiffany Brathwaite for winning the book!

Hi! I’d love to win a copy of this book to help with my freelance food writing for magazines. I have subscribed to the mailing list and tweeted about the contest
I have tweetet and subscribed to the mailinglist
I write from Europe (Italy), I suppose that that wondeful giveaway is just for US
I have the 1st edition of the book. I found Will write for food a really valuable book for bloggers and aspiring writing. It’s realist, opens your eye and let you discover the marvellous word of food writing.
I read it in December, then I fall in love with M.J.K. Fisher, almost unknow in Italy. It’s really difficult to find a book as great as I will write for food.
Hey, happy to have found you! Joined the list and tweeted, too.
Done and done. I have Dianne’s first book and would love to read the updated version, particularly on blogging.
Hi there! Have subscribed and tweeted (via @modernamy ). I’m a food blogger over @ctbites | ctbites.com and I look forward to getting my hands on a copy of your book. Congrats on the second edition.
I tweeted about this giveaway! (@funfearlessbean)

Thank you for the chance to win! I have subscribed and tweeted.
I write a blog and have always dreamed of writing a cookbook– this seems like an invaluable resource. Very best wishes!
Hi. I tried to contact you via e-mail but after typing in 6 different codes I just gave up on it. So, I’m horning in on your wonderful give-away. This is basically a public service announcement to gluten free bloggers I stalk.
Please check out http://www.glutenfreefeed.com/. It’s Tastespotting/ Food Gawker for GF folks ONLY. No more drooling over 90% of the food we can’t eat or racking my poor brain on how to change that one up. Please take a look. It’s run by Jenn over at “The Cinnamon Quill.”
Thanks for the heads up! Will definitely check it out. And apologies for your trouble with the form!
Done and done. Looking forward to interesting gluten-free news and ideas!
I have Dianne’s first book and found it incredibly helpful. I’m very interested in reading the new information on food blogging.
I added myself to the email subscription (and confirmed).
I tweeted this. @cookincanuck
I am interested in Dianne’s book because I am always looking to improve the writing on my blog. I try to include a personal anecdote in each post, plus a description of the food that uses something other than the word “delicious”. Thanks for the giveaway!
Thanks. I cook as a personal chef and am dabbling in blogging, etc. I really enjoy doing videos as well. http://www.karencooksit.com/foodreporter
I am so excited about this contest! I have Dianne’s first edition of Will Write for Food and would love to win the second edition! I am a Persian food blogger out of Los Angeles and I am always trying to learn all that I can about food writing!
I subscribed to your email list and also posted on Twitter!

PS I tweeted this from both @caterbuzz and @cateringnyc
I’ve retweeted and very excited about this giveaway.
I’ve done everything I can to win the book. Thanks for putting it up to win! I totally devoured the original book and can’t wait to read the new one. Thanks also for the blog. One of the people I love most in the world must eat gf and I’m always looking for new ways to make her happy!
I have signed up for your email newsletter as well as tweeted out the contest. I would love to win this book so that I can improve my blog as well as reviews that I write. Thanks for the contest!
Hey Stephanie!
I have subscribed to your site (I love it!), retweeted you tweet (I am @Zippaloo), and I am very interested in this book.
I have my blog All Things Food and I love it, I have recently been thinking about working as a food blogger however I know I don’t have the writing skills needed.
I am still in university studying Health Sciences and Nutrition, I have the book smarts for science, not so much writing.
Having a copy of this book would be very beneficial for me to have as it would help me become a better food blogger, as well as give me the tools to continue this passion.
Winning this book on your giveaway would be incredibly helpful because as a university student I don’t have the money to purchase books that aren’t textbooks for my classes.
Thank you a million for doing this giveaway. Take care.
Kylie Wolf
