Mugaritz Stagieres’ Knives Fund

I saw this over on Pim’s site, so I thought I would spread the word.

As always, there are causes that want – or demand, even – your cash and attention. The tragedies in Haiti and Chile are serious enough that the world is banding together to help. It’s a fabulous thing.

What about smaller causes? Causes where people’s lives aren’t necessarily in danger, but perhaps their dreams? That’s what’s at stake for three unpaid cooks in training, who recently lost their expensive kitchen tools in a fire. They can’t afford to replace their knives, so Slow Food contributor John Sconzo is raising money to help them out.

Sure, it’s not an earthquake. But if something happened to the equipment that you needed to reach your goals, wouldn’t you be grateful if a few hundred people each pitched in $5 to help you out? Of course you would be.

Even a few bucks will help.
